Tax Benifits for Going Green
Information on Energy Efficiency Incentives and Rebates
We'll be updating this page with more information as we research incentives that are potentially relevant to DDC System installation and maintenance. Of key interest is the US NEPA 2005 tax incentives for commercial building energy efficiency, with up to $1.80 per square foot of tax credits available for energy efficiency investments in 3 areas: HVAC, Lighting, and Building Envelope. Up to 60 cents per square foot is available for each area. To claim the credits the building must improve upon the energy efficiency of a comparable building meeting ASHRAE 90.1-2001 Standard by at least 50%. Partial credits are available for some methods. If the building is owned by a government or non-profit entity the credits may be claimable by the company responsible for designing the energy efficiency solution.
